* Alesis QuadraSYnth S4 Plus v2.0 (latest version) *

This firmware *may* even work on a non-Plus S4, adding many new and updated functions; it just won't give you the additional samples and presets. Please look on the web for documentation of the changes.

This dump was taken from my own unit; I discovered that it uses a 27C040 EPROM with its pin 31 bent and left out of its socket (!), then soldered to a wire connected to the ground path. I cannot be sure that all other S4 Plus units were built in the same way: maybe a solution to an unique problem with the chip installed on this one?

ON a 27C040, pin 31 = adddress A18 connected to ground means that only the first half of the memory will be read, so probably a 27C020 EPROM chip (or a 27C2001 which is equivalent) would be perfect, burning it with only the first (lower) half of this backup file: see the other enclosed binary file, which I *never* tested on hardware but won't do any harm to try it.

Note that the second (upper) half of my original dump is not empty, but maybe those contents were already written on my EPROM before burning it with the "right half" at Alesis...???

PS: If somebody uses successfully my dumps on a standard S4 and/or burning a 27C020/27C2001 EPROM, please let me know!
